Going touring... but with who???

Updated: Feb 7, 2020

Being in touch, at least 16h per day, with the online motorcycle community I see a lot of people asking about good companies that offer a wide range of tours either guided, self guide or custom motorcycle tours.

Seeing this question popping a lot made me curious to see if I can find companies which has female riders as tour guides as seems that the motorcycle industry still ignores us.

Researching, surprised myself to be picky. Meaning?

Wanted a company with:

1. Female riders tour guides

2. Options of guided, self guided, custom tailored tours

3. Options of short tours/ long tours

4. Options to visit a lot of countries in a tour or just one

5. Options to ride in Europe, to ride in USA, to ride North America , worldwide with a lot of options where to ride to

6. Options, options, options

7. Reliable information about the tours and a professional website with a good customer service replying to all my stupid enquiries and although they maybe heard the same stupid question hundreds of times, they still took the time to call, having patience and explaining me everything that I was interested, even though I was a mystery shopper 🤗 I'm mean, I know.

And the company that surprised me was MAGELLAN Motorcycle Tours !

In their big "family" they have 4 female riders tour guides and the team is expanding. Don't get me started about the amount of tours that you can choose from and the multiple choices.

They have even a dedicated section for Female Riders on their website

OMG can someone give me an unlimited petrol card????

The four female riders tour guides

Naomi oversees the content creation wing of Magellan from the saddle of her bike. She worked for BMW before we poached her to come and ride all over the world with us and she’s a natural. An advanced rider for many years, she loves nothing more than leaving the other guides in her dust on a Rideout!

A love for motorcycle touring followed a visit home to Ireland to show off the bike to her family and since then she hasn’t stopped! Working as a nurse in a busy hospital, she fills the rest of her time riding, looking at or talking about her bike!

In 2017 after week riding around Devon pillion, she decided that was way too uncomfortable and within one week did her CBT and got a tiny yellow MSX 125 (Bumble) - to suit her 5ft height! Within 9 months she got her full license and got a lovely green Kawasaki Z300 (Yaddle). Having officially been infected with the riding bug, she booked on to the Magellan Croatia Tour and miraculously managed to cover seven countries in 14 days, on a tiny Z300 with a loose chain, and just 18 months riding experience. And then she got the Magellan bug and hasn't looked back since. She did our brand-new Wonders of the Ancient World tour in June 2019, is venturing solo around Southern Spain in April, and Austria & Switzerland in June this year.

Will keep an eye on their tours and my suggestion is that you should do the same.
