Updated: Feb 7

Claire Lomas MBE (born 28 April 1980) is a British campaigner, fundraiser and former event rider. In 2007, Claire Lomas, from Leicestershire, suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken neck, a broken back, and the spinal cord injury which left her paralysed. Before 2007, Claire worked as an event rider, producing and competing horses in Eye Kettleby, near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, UK. In 2012, she finished the 32nd Virgin London Marathon in 17 days using the ReWalk robotic suit.

“Claire's next challenge will be on her motorbike as she has been given the unique opportunity to ride a lap of all of the circuits in the Bennetts British Superbike Championships. Before each race she will be interviewed before being lifted onto the bike and completing a lap of the circuit in front of 1000's of Superbike fans ... a truly daunting but fantastic challenge for Claire.

The bike has hand control gears, velcro on her knees to stop them flapping and toe clips to stop her feet sliding. Claire has someone launch her and some poor person has to trust her as she rides towards them as they catch her.”

I had the pleasure to see her live, at the California Superbike School- ladies skill day- Oulton Park. She is truly a wonderful, inspiring and driver person to succeed, demonstrating commitment and determination.
