ULEZ- a new charge for motorcycles in central London
If you want to ride into central London, is better to check if you will need to pay the new charge for motorcycles( and other vehicles) - called ULTRA LOW EMISSION ZONE.
From today, 08th of Apil 2019 the charge went live.
Sadiq Khan, mayor of London, is introducing a 24 hour, Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), meaning vehicles driving within the new charging zones, who do not meet Euro 6 emissions will be charged per day, in addition to the daily congestion charge.
The average daily charge for a car that does not meet new emissions standards is £12.50, in addition to the congestion charge. ULEZ charges are in effect 24/7, 365 days a year.
Most vehicles are subject to the £12.50 rate, including vans, minibuses and motorcycles. If you fail to pay the ULEZ charge, you will face a penalty of £160 (reduced to £80 if you pay within 14 days).
According to ULEZ standards, vehicles must meet the following Euro frameworks to be exempt from the charge:
-Euro 3 for Motorbikes – engines must not produce more than 2.3g/km of carbon monoxide and 0.15g/km of nitrogen oxide
