BRA RUN 10th of September

I was looking for something on an FB group where I'm a member and I see a name: Bra Run! I was amused because found it funny and interesting. The photo shared with that name has a lot of red, pink and motorcycles.

OK! You have my attention now! I continue reading the post because I want to see what is about. At the beginning though that the event is a normal, funny, costumes&motorcycle joy run&ride.

I read more, I have FB, Google and I know how to use them :D so I search more information about the event and the history of it. Now I know the story behind the event and stroke me: is a real problem that women and men face with and we need to be aware of it and we need to help because that can be every single one of us in this situation! Enough talking, let's see the story behind this funny name! The Bra Run was started in 2006 by Bridgwater bike rider Dave Ellis, who had lost a close friend to cancer and wanted to do something to help raise funds for cancer research. Did you know that 1 in 8 women and 1 in 870 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime? ... Worldwide, it is estimated that more than 1.68 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, with incidence rates varying across the world.

So what started by Dave with his first run, which attracted at the beginning just a handful of bikers, would quickly become a major milestone for bikers from all over the South West and beyond. Over 100 bikes took part in last year’s Bra Run and more than £2500 was raised on the day for the nominated charity, Breast Cancer Now. This year the run will be on the 10th of September, with starting point Junction 24, Sedgemoor Auction Centre, TA6 6DF and starts at 10:30 AM. Gates open at 09:00 AM, with on-site Cafe, all bikes& trikes 125cc and above are welcome. The motorcycle charity ride in support of Breast Cancer Now costs £10 per bike and we were advised to wear pink as is the color representative for breast cancer

So you need to pink up, attend a great ride all dress up in fancy, funny costumes for 60 miles for a great cause. The ride route will be across Somerset levels and through Cheddar Gorge with a half way pit stop in Cheddar Gorge. Let's help Bra Run Riders to support Breast Cancer now and as well have a pinkish Sunday! (more info https://www.facebook.com/groups/819150448132567/ ).

So if you see big pink accessories on bikes that day, don't be ashamed to nod at them, they are doing a great job and we don't need to forget that we need to restore faith in humanity!

Let's do our part to help others!!!

Ride safe!

Yours truly,
